Recycle Your CFLs

Did you know that CFLs can be recycled locally? Funded by a grant from the Nebraska Environmental Trust, WasteCap Nebraska will offer CFL recycling at several Ace Hardware locations in Lincoln and other communities in Nebraska. Coupons for new CFLs will be available in Lincoln only.

To find your nearest CFL drop-off site, visit www.AnotherBrightIdea.info or call 1-888-eWaste-9. To learn more about WasteCap Nebraska visit www.wastecapne.org.

Also, for a limited time, Omaha area residents can drop off old compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) to be safely recycled at any Omaha Public Library. Tossing CFLs into the garbage risks accidental exposure to mercury by homeowners or sanitation workers and can result in inhaling of mercury toxins or having toxins seep into the community’s groundwater supply. Why toss them and risk this exposure when 99% of an old CFL can be recycled?

Please join us for the campaign kick-off on this Friday September 5th at 9:00 a.m. at the W. Dale Clark Library in Omaha.
